How can I be reached if a situation arises with my child?
Is my child allowed to bring in his/her iPod, phone, or other electronics?
We do ask that all electronics are kept with parents during the service so children can stay focused, whether that be during the lesson or even during play time while making friends with others. We promise that we provide an environment that is fun, exciting, and inviting even without personal electronics present!
How is Upstreet set up?
Kindergarten and 1st graders gather in our exciting Upstreet Village. This room has been designed to capture your child's imagination and provide a fun and inviting place where they just can't wait to get to church!
They will play for the first 10 minutes of class and then gather together for worship and Bible story teaching. Upstreet Village is designed to allow for small groups to meet in the different "stores." There, they will learn how the Bible story can apply to their life and enjoy getting to know each other more.
The 2nd and 3rd Graders meet in Room 170 & 180. Their space is fun and inviting and a little more "grown up" compared to the K and 1st grade room. They too follow a similar structure during their ministry time together.
How do I find out about special events?
We often will hand out information cards, flyers, etc. at the end of the service that your child can take home. Along with this, many times emails are sent out, including an upcoming event as well as any necessary details.
What is your bathroom procedure?
With Kindergarten to 3rd grade, we follow the basic procedure of walking the child to the bathroom, waiting outside of the bathroom in the hallway, and then walking them back. Often times there will be more than one child who needs to use the bathroom, so when applicable we take the children in very small groups.
Do you provide snacks?
Typically snacks are not offered during service. Every now and then we will have a small group activity where Goldfish are added as a fun surprise. Candy is also handed out on occasion, though each leader is aware allergies are placed on each child’s nametag so this is always taken into account. Please talk to us personally if you have any concerns.
Are Criminal Checks done on volunteers who work with the children?
Yes, every leader has been screened by a background check system.
What is your sick child policy?
To protect other children in the room, we ask that if your child has been sick within the last 24 hours that you do not bring them into the classroom. With such a large ministry there is a higher probability of spreading germs and we try to take as many precautions to ensure a safe environment as we can.
It is my children’s first time here and they’d like to stay together, is this allowed?
We know that sometimes it is a little intimidating to be the newest member of Upstreet. If it makes children more comfortable to be together for the first couple weeks we are more than happy to make this happen, then slowly integrating them into their specific grades as the weeks progress.
If my child brings a friend are they allowed to stay together?
We lovingly welcome any friends brought to Grace! And we are very aware that ages may vary among friends, so to allow guests to have as much fun as possible, we absolutely permit the children to stay together even if ages vary.
