REST DAY

REST DAY

Saturday, April 27, 2024

Volunteers: 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.   |   Families: 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Rest Day has become one of Grace’s largest outreaches to the community. This dream to give parents of children affected by disabilities an afternoon of rest began in 2010 with just over a dozen families.  It has impacted hundreds of families, and we hope it will reach hundreds more.

Families drop off their kids affected by disabilities and their siblings (18 & younger) and then leave for an afternoon of rest, errands or even a date! Volunteers spend the afternoon playing games with kids, running activity rooms, helping the kids have a wonderful and safe time, and preparing dinner for them to take home when it is all over. We need over a hundred volunteers to make this day happen!

Sign up to bring your children or to volunteer below.

FAMILIES

Families signing up receive a day of REST – Thank you for reaching out to Rest Day and we can’t wait to provide you with an afternoon of Rest. To sign up your children, please complete a separate form for each child by clicking on “KIDS”. You will receive an email the week of Rest Day with your child’s color group and other details for the day. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions prior to Rest Day. If you are new to Rest Day, please be on the lookout for a call from one of our family liaisons. They look forward to learning about your children and asking questions, so we make sure they have a wonderful and safe time while you enjoy some rest! The Next Rest Day – Saturday, April 27 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

If you have a child who you would like to attend, please sign up here.

REST Day Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Rest Day! Registration, reference, and a background check are required before you can serve. We want to remind everyone that we love families serving together. Any age can serve at Rest Day but kids under 16 need to be serving with an adult. When registering online, there is a place to include any minors serving with you. We typically have around 100 friends participate and need many volunteers to make this day happen. To volunteer for Rest Day, please register here

Groups: We need most of our volunteers to serve in groups alongside our friends with disabilities and their siblings to take them around to our planned activities.

Activity Rooms: We need volunteers to serve in our activity rooms to help execute all the fun our friends will have! We do crafts, games, face painting, a rumble room, music and the surprise “fun” room.

Medical Team: We need nurses and medical staff to support our friends so this day of REST is possible! If you are in the medical profession, we would love to connect with you!

Kitchen: We need volunteers to serve in the kitchen preparing meals to send home with our families.

FOOD DONATIONS

We send meals home to each family to enjoy the evening of Rest Day.  All donations can be dropped off  Saturday morning, April 27 between 9 and 11 a.m. You do not have to fill out the volunteer link above in order to donate food.
