REST DAY
REST DAY
Saturday, December 14, 2024
Families from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Volunteers from 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Rest Day has grown into one of Grace’s biggest community outreach events. This initiative, which began in 2010 with just over a dozen families, was designed to give parents of children with disabilities an afternoon to recharge. Since then, it has supported hundreds of families, and we look forward to reaching even more.
On Rest Day, families can drop off their children with disabilities along with their siblings (ages 18 and under) and take time for rest, run errands, or enjoy a date! Our amazing volunteers spend the afternoon playing games, leading activities, helping kids have a fantastic and safe experience, and preparing dinner for them to take home. It takes over a hundred volunteers to make this day possible!

REST Day Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Rest Day! Registration, reference and a background check are required before you can serve for Rest Day. We’re excited to welcome families who want to serve together; volunteers of any age can participate, though children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. During online registration, there’s a section to list any minors who will be volunteering with you.
Typically, we have around 100 families participate, so we rely on many volunteers to make Rest Day a success.
Groups
Groups: Many of our volunteers serve in groups alongside our friends with disabilities and their siblings, helping them enjoy our planned activities. Volunteers also serve in activity rooms where they will help with crafts, play games, face painting, and dancing to music.
Medical Team
Medical Team: Nurses and medical professionals are needed to support our friends, making this day of rest possible. If you’re in the medical field, we’d love to connect with you.
Kitchen
Kitchen: Volunteers are also needed to prepare meals in the kitchen for families to take home.
FOOD DONATIONS
We send meals home to each family to enjoy the evening of Rest Day. All donations can be dropped off on Saturday morning, December 14 between 9 and 11 a.m. You do not have to fill out the volunteer link above in order to donate food.
